NEW LIFE BAPTIST CHURCH COVENANT

1. Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior; (Romans 8:14, John 1:12, Philippians 3:20) and, on the public profession of our faith (Romans 10:9,Matthew 10:32) and having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,(Matthew 28:19, Matthew 3:16) we do now in the presence of God and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. (Ephesians 4:16, Romans 12:5)

2. We commit,  by the aid of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 3:16), to walk together in Christian love (Ephesians 5:2); to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness and comfort (Philippians1:9, 1 Thessalonians 3:13, 2 Corinthians 1:4);  to promote it’s prosperity and spirituality (Ephesians 4:12); to attend its services regularly (Hebrews 10:25), to sustain it’s worship (Acts 2:42), Ordinances (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 11:26), discipline (Matthew 18:15-17) and doctrines (1 Timothy 4:6b). To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and the relief of the poor, and the spread of gospel through all nations (2 Corinthians 9:7, 16:1-2).

3. We commit to maintain family and secret devotions (2 Timothy 2:15, 1 Thessalonians 5:17); to train our children according to the Word of God (Ephesians 6:4); to seek the salvation of our family and acquaintances (2 Corinthians 5:20), to walk above reproach before God and man (Ephesians 5:15), to abstain  from all forms of activity which dishonor our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22), and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior (Matthew 28:19-20).

4. We commit to watch over one another in brotherly love (Philippians 2:3-4), to remember one another in prayer (James 5:16), to aid one another in sickness and distress (Matthew 25:37-40). To love one another as Christ loves us (James 1:19-22, Ephesians 4:29-32).

We also agree that when we leave this place we will as soon as possible unite with some other church of like faith and practice, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.  In the event there is no such church, we shall seek, with the Lord’s help, to establish one (Matthew 28:19-20, Hebrews 10:23-25).
